Case Study

Full Reconstruction

Denver, CO

Challenge

Asphalt had deteriorated to an unrepairable state due to lack of maintenance. Large cracks, alligatored areas and potholes had developed in over 50% of the area and had not been fixed in many years.

Solution

DACS implemented a full pavement reconstruction - 6” was removed by a milling machine, the site was inspected for any subgrade failures (soft spots) the area was graded level and 2 lifts of asphalt was paved. This option was the best solution due to the age of the existing asphalt and the damage seen at the surface. A mill and overlay would have not been successful and the base asphalt layer was too degraded to be successfully repave.
